What types of decorating does AK supply?
AK boasts in house screen printing, tackle twill, embroidery, sublimation, heat transfer and perma twill departments to create and enhance all your sports uniforms.
What is Sublimation?
Sublimation is the most innovative process in the team uniform industry. The design possibilities are endless, as digital artwork is dye transferred on to fabric panels allowing for the ultimate in creativity and durability. This cutting edge process ensures that your uniforms will be light weight and durable. At AK, we pride ourselves on our high quality fabrics, vibrant colors and distinctive designs.
What is Screen Printing?
Screen printing is an economical ink printing technique used to transfer ink through a mesh screen in order to create images on garments. Also commonly known as Silk Screening, this method can be used to print logos, numbers and/or names on team uniforms for any sport.
What is Tackle Twill?
Tackle twill is a process where logos, letters, numbers and/or names are cut from polyester twill fabric and then sewn on to a garment. An adhesive backing tacks the material in place and the edges are sewn down with zig-zag or embroidered stitching. Tackle twill is a traditional, premium decorating process used by many high level and professional sports teams.
What is Sublimated Twill?
Sublimation on a sewn twill patch offers a professional look at a significantly lower cost than embroidery/appliqué. The sublimated twill crest is a standard price for unlimited colors and there is no set-up charge for this method. This is the best of both worlds, a professional look at a lower cost.
What is Embroidery?
Embroidered logo designs are stitched directly on to garments or on to twill fabric pieces with an automated embroidery machine. The logo artwork must first be digitized using embroidery software.
What is Applique?
This is a combination of tackle twill and embroidery. The largest areas of color embroidered together are layers of twill fabric and the logo details are embroidered onto the twill to complete the look. This is the ultimate in quality and durability and most professional sports teams use this process for their cresting. The costs are higher when compared to the other decorating processes, and there is an additional digitizing charge to create the artwork.
